Anyone know the ingredients for those amazing beeswax crayons from Germany?

Yes, you peel the paper off crayons and break them into pieces. You can put multiple colors in the same mold and it melts into a cool little crayon shape.

To the op--after the crayon hardens if you can't take them out, putting the mold in the freezer for 10 min can help.

OP here. Thanks! We definitely have silicone molds ready and I used them before, but not all of the crayons broke free right. I've ordered a large box of Crayolas so hopefully that does the trick. Now that I think about it, we probably did use cheap crayons before.

Good idea about practicing before and having crayons ready if the ones at the party are an epic fail.

Btw, I read a tip about putting the crayons in warm water- apparently the wrappers will peel right off.

Use good crayons. Crayola, not dollar store crayons. Put in low oven (250) until it melts fully and then take out. When it's cool you can pop them out. We had better luck with silicon molds than hard muffin tins. But the silicon molds are hard to clean after they've had crayons in there. Practice ahead of time so at the party you have it down! That way you'll have extra crayons to give to the kids if they don't work out.

It's going to be the craft at my kid's birthday party soon. I've done this with my kids before but something went wrong- either I baked them too long or had it at the wrong temperature, b/c the color and the wax separated, leaving the crayons unusable. Am hoping to perfect the process before the party!

Any tried and true recipes?
