Well now wait a minute. If he's doing the cooking, whose pots are they exactly?

And if you're so committed to your pots, why are they sitting in grease waiting to be washed first? If you cook and want them to gleam, take care of them.

He probably figures the inside is the business side. He's right, as far as that goes. Gleaming outside appearance is a personal choice.

Its mord than likely grease op. My pots are like this on the outside too. Let me tell you why DH only cleans the inside of the pots...so he will take a pot thats been sitting in grease and food residue in the sink, clean only the inside, pop it on the stove and start cooking thereby burning all that residue and grease on the bottom into the pan. Makes me want to kick him in the nuts because now all my pans are coated on the outside.

Some of my lids got that way when I left them on a burner with nothing on/in/under them. I think I could probably make them shiny again with either salt & vinegar, barkeeper's friend, or this eco-friendly cream cleanser I bought at MOM, but I haven't bothered. I just live with it.

Gas combustion does give off a sort of greasy byproduct that slowly accumulates on kitchen surfaces, making it necessary to clean the grime off of rarely-reached surfaces every so often. That stuff could build up on your pots, I guess. I think the answers would be the same: barkeeper's friend, something like it, or just live with it.

We have a gas stove too and I don't think we've had this problem, but it sounds like grease. Try a stainless steel wool scouring pad.

It sounds like rust.

Use Barkeeper's Friend powder cleanser. The dishwasher won't get that stuff off. I use Brillo sometimes too, but it does scratch sometimes.

Burnt on grease

any idea why the outside of my pots are looking goldenish? and what i can do about i - i tried bon ami, without any change.
