We all had the stomach bug that's been going around and for whatever reason it struck everyone in the house in the middle of the night. My DC vomited in bed (a first). Nasty bug.

My kids have both had stomach bugs that didn't involve obvious, constant symptoms. Maybe they only vomit once a day and seem fine the rest of the time. We only realize it's a bug when one of us (or the other child) gets it.

That said, I'd consider additional testing for celiac given the family history. My GI doctor told me that while the blood test is pretty accurate, there are some cases that don't appear the first go-around and are only discovered by endoscopy or repeating the test.

Op here- please don't take us to be with the 99% of the public who self DX celiac or go GFree because it is trendy. We have 3 actual celiacs in our family, myself included.

The frustration is that he has been blood tested in the past but all negative. We are thinking of genetic testing but maybe the the diet first before forking over the money for it. Idk if insurance would cover it.
If it persists and that is what it is, we would want a proper DX to get the necessary accommodations one he starts school.

I would talk to the doc.

Yes, but he's asymptomatic during the day and this has happened two nights in row..diarrhea first night, diarrhea/vomiting second night all while asleep in bed.

We've had lots of stomach viruses in our house over the years but none of them were like that.

The fact that he's had visits to the er for vomiting/constipation in the past, seems to indicate that something more is going on here.

He could just have a stomach bug.

Yes, ive been keeping him home. Hes been picky with eating mostly sticking to breads. He's had mini bagels, waffles, wheat toast, plain pasta w olive oil, apples and carrots. He only drinks water, never does juice/milk (his choice).

4yo has been pottytrained for 2 years and never had a single nighttime accident. Never had a poop accident after going to underwear. Last night he pooped in his sleep some pretty formed and some more cottage cheese like. Fine in the morning and all day. Never any fever. Tonight it happened again but this time he started vomiting in his sleep and had the cottage cheese diarrhea again.

He has had chronic constipation issues on and off. Previously had Er visits for extreme dehydration after vomiting from severe constipation. They speculated about celiac in the past. Curious to figure out if this is just GI tummy trouble in general from the ongoing issues or a virus from preschool.
