Thank you for the advice. I am registered with both those sites and have excellent references. I also have my own nanny website (nannyjess.com) that I post on parent forums in my area. I am located in Boston and would need a full time position that ends around 6pm. Not sure if needing full time is why I'm finding it difficult? I'm highly sought after for typical nanny positions, usually hired on the spot months in advance. However, families with special needs children never reach out to me. My next step is to post at early intervention programs.

I forgot to mention I'm in the middle of my nursing assistant training and children's yoga training. I'm hoping those will boost my qualifications.

That is great, you will be in huge demand. If you register with sites such as care.com and sittercity.com, there is an option "special needs caregiver." You can then select which special needs you worked with before. That's how we found our nanny. She listed she worked with Aspergers', Down Syndrom and ADHD. She was an instructional assistant in PAC and non-cat classrooms for several years and then decided to go back to school. So she works with us in the evenings, when DS gets home from school, helps him with his homework, and in AM she's at school. Amazing lady.

There are lots of SN schools in this area, and people are looking for this kind of assistance all the time. I'd ask if they have jobs boards/community bulletin boards.

I've been a nanny for the past eight years working full time, long term with a handful of families. The majority of the children I've cared for have been typical children with the exceptation of a few who had allergies, seizures and behavioral issues. I'm finishing up my final year in college for early childhood education with a focus in early intervention. Unfortunately, since I've always worked 50 hours a week and attended school I haven't had the opportunity to participate in internships. I would love to find a family with a special needs child that I could work for and become an active participant in their child's therapy. I should mention that I have a young brother with severe Aspergers so I do understand the daily struggle parents go through. I was wondering what I could do to market myself better in order to attract families who could benefit from my background?
