DH here, I would never cheat, but I also recognize that I am not made of stone and anyone is potentially vulnerable to the right sort of temptation.

Met my wife 16 years ago married 10, I would never cheat. My wife is hot (not hot just to me, but HOT), she takes good care of herself, she is funny, and she is enthusiastic to screw me. No way in hell will I find that ever again in another woman. If I cheated, she would walk and there would be a line of men waiting to make her happy. However, I've always been the kind of guy who wanted to get married, after college I lost interest in screwing around. My wife keeps it hot and is willing to try a lot of new things, including the occasional visit to a fetish club, where she still breaks necks at the age of 38.

You do realize that everyone has the opportunity to cheat, right? Everyone. Doesn't matter how unappealing they are in any of the various ways one can be. Plus there is always the option to pay to play.

No, not everyone cheats. The most reliable study I've seen indicated that about 30% of married men cheat physically (some type of sex). I say "physically" because some spouses object to other degrees of emotional relationships but studies have a hard time drawing the line between appropriate and inappropriate friendships.

Fewer married women cheat; however, before you say "men are pigs, women aren't," many more unmarried women than unmarried men get busy with a married person.

Not only honesty, it depends on how well you communicate with your partner. If you are in the habit of not sharing much with one another, then cheating is simply one of many things omitted. Not that it makes cheating more ethical but it makes it easier to cheat without actively trying to hide it.

I think a lot hinges on whether a person values honesty. The men who end up cheating are usually the ones who are okay with lots of little lying.

I think that's why it's important to pay attention to those signs while dating.

I don't cheat, husband doesn't cheat. Never will.

But a fair number of women will do so as well. It is just that the motivations are different. For men, it is the thrill of the action and being plain old horny. For women, there is usually an emotional component and where that is not the case, they are looking for some sort of advantage which the guy has the power to grant by virtue of his position. You would be surprised at the number of women who do sleep with people who have the authority or power in the corporate world in order to get ahead.

Women may not cheat more than men, but they CAN if they want. There is always some horndog out there waiting for any woman who wants him.

I agree with this. And I think the percentage of marriages where at least one person cheats is lower than what people on here think. I find it very hard to believe that if you look around a typical suburban neighborhood, 50% of the homes have a cheating spouse. Believe it or not, some people really have no interest in cheating.

I don't think that EVERYONE would cheat. But the older I get, the more I think that most men will cheat if given the opportunity.

People are flawed and people are weak. But there are some honest, loyal, honorable people out there. If only I could figure out how to meet them...

I think some people will, male or female. But I think those are people who place a lower value on fidelity in the first place.

I can't see myself cheating on a husband unless there was a really good reason, like he developed alzheimers and couldn't be a real spouse to me anymore, but I didn't want to divorce him. I think if you want to sleep with other people, you have two options: stay single or have an open marriage. Otherwise, it's kind of shady.
