I'm not even reading your initial post, OP--if your gut ever tells you to search a room, do it. There's no right to privacy in your house, and you are doing it for their well-being.

Are u the parent or not? That was not even a question when I was growing up; no options were given, just do it.

My DS (17) was exhibiting some odd behavior recently so I felt it warranted a room search where I found pot, a bong, and a lighter. We dealt with that issue and I am no longer seeing that odd behavior, but since he broke my trust I am debating doing another room search. I don't want him to hate me for always searching his room but if he is still doing pot I want to know so we deal with it.
