Why doesn't TIC website says summer camp is all filled up?

I don't see anywhere in their website that summer camp registration is over or any talk about waiting list.

They should be more clear on this.
Or If I failed to locate where its mentioned in their website, please give me the link.

Oh my goodness! Nobody is denying how wonderful TIC is. Honestly, I have no clue if it is as good as everyone says it is. But PLEASE, for those of us who were not on the ball in December to sign our kids up, or those of us who do not live near McLean (forget DC and MD since this is a Virginia forum), does anyone have a review of Fairfax Collegiate? Thank you

The TIC Camp counselors often return year after year so the counselors do establish a longer term relationship with campers. Plus there are discounts for repeat sessions and it is not unusual to see a camper signed up for two or more sessions (two weeks each) in a single summer.

The staff to camper ratio is also quite low so counselors get the chance to know their campers well.

TIC is a great balance between sports and computers so your "computer geek" isn't sitting on their duff all day in front of a screen.

TIC also has locations in MD and DC-you have to sign up as early as December of the prior year to get in, but well worth the wait.

One of my adult colleagues at work went to TIC every summer as a youth, and is one of the smartest and tech savvy people I have ever met-so clearly, they do something right.

TIC is very sports oriented also. I think 1/2 the afternoon is dedicated to sports. Shorter day and more expensive.

Are you the same poster listing this in the classes forum? There's been quite a lot written about the camp here and in that forum. It's a decent option for academics and stem offerings with convenient locations all over Fairfax offering weekly signups. I have never heard a complaint about the camp being unsafe. I'm not sure what you're expecting from a camp that might know your child for only one or two weeks out of a summer. It's not a monthly overnight camp where the counselors really get to know each kid.

TIC and Fairfax Collegiate aren't comparable in many ways, especially since TIC is only in McLean and FC is all over the county. More importantly, TIC is full for this summer.

Any reviews on FC?

15:22 and 13:41 here. I'd even forgotten what the PP mentioned about feedback--TIC has its counselors write up fairly detailed "reports" at the end of camp (for the tech part and the sports part). They're all very positive things about the camper. My son was very proud of his.

My DS went to both last summer. He said the robotics session at TIC Camp was much better than Fairfax Collegiate as they got to do projects that did not come out of a book like they did at Fairfax Collegiate.

I received more detailed feedback from TIC Camp, too.

We like TIC Camp. Lots of similar offerings. VERY well organized, lots of communication (much more so that Fairfax Collegiate).
