bowl in dutch oven. Add potatoes and carrots during. Add cabbage at the end. YUM.

I'm inspired, I've never made corned beef before but will try this year. I seem to remember my mother boiling it in water and a bottle of Guinness. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any recipes?

Same has happened to me. I think I will try the oven this year.


We have had two years of failed Crock Pot corned beef. Two different crock pots/recipes. It came out tough both times. My mom always used the oven and hers always turned out well

yes, can someone please post a link to a recipe? I always take the easy way out on St. Patty's Day and make Rachel Ray's Shepherds Pie, but I would like to do corned beef!

Baked in the oven is nice if you are home, or can use a timer. The water needs to cover the corned beef or use an oven bag.

I always just set up everything in the crock pot and check back at the end of the day. Always delish. I just saw a recipe that had rave reviews (if they can be believed) where the corned beef was loosely packed in foil and baked in the oven for 2 hours (with cloves, honey mustard and brown sugar). Wondering if I should vary from my successful crock pot method. How do you make your corned beef for St. Patrick's Day?
