Termini Brothers. They will also pick things up for a small fee.

I've used a company called something like Schoenbauer, based in MD. Very good work.

I hope you did not go to John Garcia at Blue Maple woodworks. While previously trustworthy, he stole dining room chairs from us as we later found out he was going through some hard times. No calls, no return, nothing. Do not give him any of your pieces, particularly those you treasure. He is NOT to be trusted. Chris 202-365-7789.

You can also try Georgetown Refinishing. I think they are actually located in MD. If they can't fix there, they will take to their shop and return.

I think there are a number of furniture restorers in the antique district in Kensington (West Howard side) and you might start with Googling them to see what services they offer. Angie's List and/or Washington Checkbook would be another place to start. I think there are actually plenty of these places around.

A few years ago, I had John Garcia from Blue Maple Woodworks come to my house to do some work on a couple of large pieces of antique furniture. He did a nice job and was not too pricey.

I would look for a carpenter. You might have good luck searching the Real Estate/Home Improvement thread.

I don't know anyone who would come to your house. I think you're kind of screwed.

We have a couple of large pieces of furniture in need of repair. They're too big to transport (square table, dining room sideboard) so I'm hoping to find someone who can do in home repair work. Preferably someone who is more than a handyman as some of the furniture is passed down in the family so has value to us.
