Yes I am the O.P and my DH has PTSD and ADHD-I think this was prescribed for his ADHD I am sorry.


Ah, okay. Well as others have said, the ADHD is a stimulant so DH should be taking it earlier in the day, in all likelihood. Obviously, though, he needs to talk to his doctor.

I remember reading somewhere that Adderall is sometimes prescribed for anxiety related to PTSD. I forget the term, but it is kind of like how some doctors prescribe Wellbutrin to help people quit smoking.

Well you also said he has ADHD. So it is more likely that he is taking it for his ADHD. Sounds like both of you need to learn more about the medication and dosage. He is taking it incorrectly and in order to help him, you need to know what he is taking for what and when he should be taking it.

Thanks PP. I have decided to call his physician tomorrow morning about the situation and to learn more.In the mean time I am also looking at different sources from the internet, thank you!

Yeah i think he took it incorrectly because you have to take it twice a day.In the morning and afternoon NOT evening or towards bed time.
O.P tell your DH to change the time he is taking it and see what happens or call your doctor for better instructions.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I remember in college people took Adderall because if they had ADD, it helped them focus. If they didn't have ADD, it made them hyper and they could study all night without needing to sleep.

Anyone taken prescription ADDERALL? ANY good side effects? Please share.
My DH has PTSD and has been prescribed for Adderall and about 4 hours ago he took his first pill-He is so active and cant go to sleep right now.
Is this a good thing?
