Yes, very safe and lovely. I graduated from there in 1999. Quite residential. Grab a meal in downtown Decatur, not far from campus. It is adorable.

Traffic is not that bad between Buckhead and Emory, you can easily take surface streets (N Druid Hills, Lenox, several others) and avoid the interstates.

NP here, also planning a spring break trip to Emory. We were going to stay at a hotel in Buckhead because my husband will be there on business. Bad idea given traffic? Should DC and I stay closer to campus?

Yes, Druid Hills is a safe and lovely area with many grand old homes on large lots (it is where they filmed "Driving Miss Daisy" to give you an idea). I used to run for miles there during grad school and loved it. Emory Village is small and cute. You may also want to check out Virginia Highlands nearby for shops/restaurants, also downtown Decatur is close.

Yes, the community that Emory is located in is very nice and safe. Emory is on my child's college list as well.

The area around Emory is VERY nice. Lived nearby during grad school there.

And the Emory U Conference Center Hotel is aces!!! It has a Frand Lloyd Wright vibe to me.

The last time that I was there was in 2006

Just make sure you watch road signs and plan your turns ahead. Driving around ATL with traffic is a major headache. Have the passenger be the navigator and the driver watches the road constantly. Also, if you plan on going anywhere during rush hour, plan to take an hour to go 15 miles.

I will be taking my DD over spring break first to Vanderbilt, then to Emory. We will be driving. Is the area around Emory nice? I have been to Atlanta before and was accosted, so I'm not so comfortable. This was downtown though near the conference center. It's just us two females on this road trip.

Just making sure that we will be safe. I plan to stay at the Emory U. conference center hotel.
