Yes, of course you have to pay. You have to add it to your income with a Schedule C.

in doing my taxes, turbo tax is asking me a million questions about my 'business' since I entered the 1500.00 from a 1099-misc that I got from a random one time only editing job I did last year. I don't have my own business, I just did the contract work and that was it. do I even have to pay taxes on that (not trying to get out of anything - just wondering what the threshold is for paying taxes on a discrete project on an amount earned). not sure if I should pay someone to do my taxes this year as a result, but it seems dumb when the rest of my situation is very uncomplicated.
