I never heard of this particular problem, but I was thinking of exercise induced anaphylaxis which is related to a food allergy in some people.

If exercise causes large hives (usually a centimeter or more in diameter) along with throat swelling or lightheadedness, nausea, or headaches, you may have a condition named "exercise-induced anaphylaxis." If exercise causes much smaller hives (usually less than a half-centimeter), you're more likely to have a condition called "cholinergic urticaria." Either of these problems can be accompanied by wheezing with breathing (asthma).

Yes, this happens to me too! If I haven't exercised in a few months and then do some cardio/break a sweat, my entire torso breaks out in hives.

Yes, hives. Allergy pills help. Sometimes it's worse in cold weather for me.

I always have a problem with my legs breaking out; this has been very interesting to read!

But do not take benadryl before a run. It will mess with your breathing and heartrate.

I hope after, otherwise I would fall asleep in the middle of the run.

Take an allergy pill. This happens to me and it works.

Happens to me too. Hate it! Luckily have been able to run consistently past few years with the purchase of a treadmill.

Is it hives? I used to get exercise urticaria all over my legs if started running after a hiatus. If that's the case it might get better with time. And don't scratch! Makes it much worse!

I've heard it has to do with increased blood flow. It happens to me when I've been sedentary and when I do cardio outside in cool air.

OP here, yeah, forgot about those thighs! So itchy! Glad it's over. I am so grumpy when this is happening. LOL I went for a run partly because my DD was ticking me off, and found it amusing that I ended up in even a worse mood 1/2way through the run due to the itching! But of course it went away and now I'm fine and my DD snapped out of it and all is well.

But want to really know what causes the itch!

Don't gave an answer for you, but that happens to me too! I always assumed it had something to do with sweating in those areas again after a long hiatus.

Happens to me too, especially inner thighs. I also have heard it is because of the capillaries being infused with blood after a while without it.

OMG finally got off my bum with this beautiful weather and went for a run. Started to itch, itch, itch--waist, upper buttocks, outer parts of arms, and where the bra band is.

This happens to me when I haven't run in a while, and only happens the first time or possibly twice. I think it has to do with capillaries opening up but don't remember what's actually going on.

Do you know?
TIA!
