I'd invest in: dark wash jeans, black jeans, and white jeans. Then some well fitting plain t-shirts and either a great blazer or a few sweaters. That way everything mixes and matches and you can change the look with the accessories you use (scarves, necklaces. Bracelet).

Pants with Tshirt, cardigan, scarf for chilly office. Flats or oxfords.

Same here. I think I dress down more that I'm working than I did when I was a SAHM. I would look seriously out of place if I went much fancier than jeans and a T-shirt. YMMV.

Check out the temp in the building. Many buildings are chilly even in summer, so buy a sweater or two. You might want to buy a couple of things, then look around and see what the style is before you spend your entire budget. GL.

What type of position do you have? I'm in IT and my wardrobe as a consultant (client facing) is different from what a manager or a developer would wear.

What sort of IT? If you're lugging around equipment, your needs will be different from a developer who sits all day.

I just started a job a few months ago after 8 years of being at home with kids. I have no spring/summer work clothes at all, so need to build a small wardrobe.

I work in the IT field, and the office is on the more casual side of business casual. I'm 5'10 and a size 8-10. My style is modern classic, with a bit of boho.

Ideas for where to start? I have about 1K to spend but will obviously add more over time.
