NP, and new mommy, this is a great idea! Adding a pretty Swaddle blanket to my hospital bag. I'll still have a take home outfit for the car seat.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with bringing outfits for baby if you want... It's your choice, I think it would make for cute pictures too. And they are only in newborn clothes a shirt time anyway. Plus it's their birthday <3

Don't bring anything you wouldn't want to disappear. If the baby has a blowout, massive puke-fest or whatever, those clothes go off and go into the general hospital laundry bin. You also never know now why your kid might wind up in the nursery. If you're having trouble putting on and taking off the hospital clothes, have the nurse help you do it.

I was thrilled to use all their stuff and not worry about mine.

I brought clothes for our second baby - our first was swimming in the one sized tshirts at the hospital. Didn't bring anything fancy, just little cotton footed jammies. It wasn't about thinking the hospital things were gross, just remembered how big they were on our daughter and also figured since I was bringing pajamas from home for myself the second time around I'd bring them for baby too.

Do you have only one child?
This will be a third c-section for me (two kids at home), and you can bet the nurses will be taking my baby from me. Hopefully I can get more than one hour of sleep each night.

Not OP, but we did because it was easier to change diapers with just a few snaps of a real outfit vs the super big and oddly constructed newborn "outfits" the hospital provided.
And to the PP referring to the "brand new beautiful clothes" that would be put on a baby that's only lived in a "disgusting hospital", you do realize that makes you sound a little ridiculous, right? Are you planning on not touching your baby because he/she must also be "disgusting"? Hope your child isn't wearing those beautiful clothes the first time he/she spits up or has a poop explosion!

When going home. Why bring your own and create potential issues?

Why would you want to put clothes on before you go home? I don't see any reason, and didn't.

When did you put baby's own clothes on baby?
Previously I only did his on the day to go home, but this time I want to before that.
But my concern is if the nurses are with baby for some reason, and clothes get dirty, will they return the clothes to me?
Would nurses object to our own clothes for any reason? (I would assume should be something like a kimono shirt or something easy for access.)
