We ended up going to Ranazul in Fulton. My friend suggested it. It was really good. I wouldn't make a special trip 25 miles a way, but if I found myself in the area again, I would seek it out.

I was thinking Ellicott City too.

I really like Cuba de Ayer in Burtonsville. Probably more convenient for OP than the Baltimore people, though.

Also, from Rockville, if you drive drive out to 108 through Olney you can go up to Howard County that way.

I agree with Columbia or Ellicott City. I'd suggest:

Iron Bridge Wine Company
Portalli's (Italian casual fine dining) in EC
The Ale House in Columbia (brewery with surprisingly good food and great desserts)
Clyde's in Columbia
La Palapa in EC is fun for Mexican if you want more casual

I'd look around Howard County. Do you have EZPass? You can take the ICC. Even if you don't, it won't be a bad drive on a Saturday.

G and m crabcakes. Awesome and very popular. Do not park illegally around the restaurant. You will get towed.

New to the area, living in Rockville. Meeting friends for dinner tomorrow night. They live in Baltimore. What is roughly halfway, a good restaurant, and a place we could probably get a reservation for 8ish? Thanks!
