I know the 1 year at a minimum is wrong, because 1 week after my child had his annual IEP, his doctor decided he needed hearing aids. So we had a second IEP about 1 month later which include Deaf and Hard of Hearing goals. So I know that is wrong.
Maybe I wasn't clear... You can have as many IEP meetings as needed, 2, 10, whatever. But you have to meet at least once a year for review of the IEP.
You were clear, the other poster may have read it as maximum instead of minimum

My child is 6 (1st grade). He is in a regular classroom with some extra support for him and a couple other students.
His Developmental pediatrician asked for both his classroom teacher and special ed teacher to fill out a NICHQ-Vanderbilt Assessment Scale.
We found both teachers say he has "problematic" organizational skills. Also he has trouble completing tasks and staying focused.
He has an IEP for speech, OT, (some PT). Can we go back and update my child's IEP and ask for organizational skills and other things which were
not on his original IEP to be added? Is organizational skills one of the things that we can have put on the IEP?
My child has a rare chromosome disorder and doesn't fall into any particular category. He is listed on his IEP as "Medical Other".
His Academic performance is average for reading and math but somewhat of a problem for written expression (no surprise there, his grasp is
very weak).
