People who pile on to say how wonderful it really is where their children attend when....op didnt ask anything about the school they have weighed in on.

Ones who can't spell and don't check their grammar before posting when they try to stir up trouble.

PP here, should have added, the reason it is viewed as a negative is not because she is promoting a school (that's great), but because she is not giving people the straight goods about where the school is at today.

One who has invested in (made a bet on) a struggling school, and knows in her heart and her head that it is still not very good, still has a long way to go, but wants to boost it (promote it) to encourage other high-SES parents to give it a shot and thereby reach the potential she sees in it. (she or he - gender neutral.)

What's your definition? One's who make up things, ones who over exaggerates, the know it all’s so forth and so on. Especially the ones who want you to take the bait and see what type of responses or reactions they will get.
