DD is at neither school, we toured both and she fell in love with SR. She's on an art scholarship at another school, so for art SR has the edge. The art room, teachers, photog lab, etc were pretty impressive.

And maybe DD doesn't want to go to high school with mom or dad and parents understand that might be stifling/uncomfortable/unbearable/unfair to DD? Just a wild guess. Please don't identify this family. Those who need to know, know.

Who is that? Sometimes girls who have been at SR for lower school might be ready to make a change for HS, I'd guess, or perhaps there's a specific sports team at Visi that's a better fit? There are lots of personal reasons someone might prefer one over the other.

One of the administrators of SR DD goes to Visi.

Families seem very happy at both schools, you can't go too wrong. Differences I see: Stone Ridge is smaller, with about 80 girls per class vs. 120 at Visi; Visi seems to attract many of the top academic students from the parochial schools and many top athletes, and seems to have a more competitive vibe, both academically and athletically, which could be a pro or con for your daughter; I've heard some chatter that college placement is stronger from SR -- top girls at Visi go to fantastic schools but I've heard some frustration from parents of strong smart girls in middle of class at Visi, that it's harder to stand out & college counseling support is lacking; SR has block scheduling with longer course periods on alternating days that is said to be a great stress reducer; SR has the service program built into the school day, which is unique and a big part of the school culture.

Does she have a preference? Both are wonderful schools. As a SR mom I have to say we absolutely love it. A ninth grader should have a feel for which one she prefers. Different vibe at each one.

My DD was accepted at both Visitation and Stone Ridge trying to do pros and cons. Any parents have anything to add?
