I watched last night and gasped as I saw this conversation happening. And then my first thought was "I should post on DCUM and see what everyone else thinks." Doesn't look good for the mother but I can't say I noticed any signs along the way...

It would bug me if she dies, mostly because the 2 kids look super annoyed to be listening to Dad's stories. I'm hoping it's a red herring, and she's just battling breast cancer or something but makes it. I'm guessing you think she dies but then she pops in the last scene to tell dad to stop torturing the kids.

Agree. I hope it's a health scare. Last night's show was set in 2024 which is 10 years in the future. The kids are older than 10 when he's telling the story so if she does die, presumably it's a long illness. I hope there is a twist. This is a comedy for pete's sake. Cristin Miloti is totally awesome as the mother and it's too bad she hasn't had more air time this season.

I caught the last sign, but we thought it was going to mean something like Ted's mom died before their wedding. Sad to think that the mother dies. This season hasn't been good...I would dislike it even more if these suspicions are correct.

If you watch this show and saw this past Monday's episode, read on. I just watched it and am shocked and crying (I know, embarassing - but I cry easily at tv/movies) about the implication as to what will happen to "the mother." I was suspicious about several comments in the episode (Ted is stuck in the past, the "old married couple") but then when Ted started crying about a mother not attending her daughter's wedding, I lost it. WHY does a comedy need to end on such a sad note?? I really hope I am reading too much into this past episode ...
