OP here,
We have family in Denver so we were trying to touch all the bases while we are out there! But thanks for the feedback and I see that it is probably not practical.
I'm thinking we'll just skip Denver and make that a separate trip.

Yes, definitely stop in Yellowstone. I don't know what you want to do in Denver - is your plan to just make a quick stop at Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park before heading north?

The only good thing about a drive like this is that the speed limit will be 70 or even 75 in some places!

We were planning to drive a rental car.
Fly into one destination and then depart from the other.
I agree the driving would eat into our time.

We are thinking of combining these two destinations in a summer vacation about 10 days long.
Feedback appreciated.
Please recommend any nice lodges or resorts in either of these areas that could be a home base for exploring.
