Right I just wanted to make sure we would not be automatically dropped (without our choosing) from a lower ranked school where DC was accepted if the waitlist moves. I don't want to get hyped about a school only to find out a few weeks later that DC is attending someplace else. This process has been so long and stressful, I think we will be satisfied to attend any of our picks.

Sorry, I meant you'll need to choose to either accept the #3 spot, or keep your #5 spot.

You'll be offered the spot, and will need to choose to give up your #5 spot or accept the #3 spot.

I have another late lottery question I wonder if someone can answer. Say we find out on 3/31 that DC gets into his #5 ranked school, I realize we are waitlisted for the top 4 and nothing happens for those ranked lower. What happens if 2 weeks later, there is waitlist movement and he gets into his #3 ranked school...do we lose the spot at school number 5?
