Beware of the gluten free substitutes for breads, cookies, frozen meals, etc. they are full of fat and calories. Your best bet starting gluten free, especially if you want to lose weight, is to eat unprocessed foods that are naturally gluten free. Vegetables, fruits, simply made meats. Then start adding in the processed gf foods. But keep track of the extra calories. There will be a point where you will buy all the gf cookie options at Whole Foods because by going gf you feel like you are being deprived, but take a step back and look at the healthiest way of balancing your meals and snacks.
