surely if it's a townhouse community you have an HOA. Complain to the HOA. They are very fast to get on this stuff.

Why not just talk to your neighbors, of if they're not around leave a friendly note? They might not be aware of the rule. Seems like the obvious first step.

Sorry, I missed that sentence. I think I would talk to them myself rather than reporting them.

Do you have an HOA? I know in our townhouse community, I get a letter in the mail if the cans are out the day right after trash pickup. When DH worked overnights he brought the cans in in the morning when he got home.

AS PA as it sounds, I might be tempted to just tape a note to them: "Your trash cans are blocking the sidewalk."

Does your community have a board? Maybe they could contact the owner of the unit and let them know?

Op, do you know the owners? Could you send them a quick email along the lines of, "Hey, I'm sure you didn't know this, but your new renters are leaving their garbage cans out all week by the curb?"

This makes me glad we have a HOA. Our HOA rules stipulate that we have to bring them in by a certain time -- and we can only bring them out at a certain time.
