I dampen my hair before adding the coconut oil, I read somewhere that this "locks in moisture" but who knows. It melts enough on your fingers to apply, no need to melt it on the stove or anything. It does take 2 shampoos for me to get it all out too. I do wrap a scarf around my head to catch any drips.

My hair hasn't looked this good in years.

I add honey and olive oil to my store bought conditioner.

No, they don't. I have been trying them since the age of 16 and am now 39 and no, they just don't work.

What does work? getting a trim religiously every 6 to 8 weeks to control split ends.

I want to know too. Planning on trying this tonight, this winter has been brutal on my hair.

NP - do you melt the coconut oil or apply it hard?

I do this too and have to shampoo twice to get it out enough for normal styling.

Do you put it on dry hair?

Yes.

Oh. I have VERY thick and VERY frizzy hair, so I glop on a lot. I only shampoo once and the coconut oil comes out no problem. Maybe you just need to glop on less?

Aussie 3 minute miracle. Mane and Tail leave-in. VO5 hot oil, if you can find it.

What works best for me is an at-home clear gloss treatment, Shine Happy by Clairol.

I have what is considered "old" hair. Brittle, dry, lifeless - nothing silky smooth about it. Makes me look 10 years older than I am. I have tried deep conditioning treatments in the past - drugstore version. pantene and neutrogena ring a bell. Don't remeber them working otherwise I would probably still be using them. If you have had luck can you let me know what you use?
