NOPE!! If you went to Middlebury or Amherst you might be qualified. Georgetown? While it's a great school is nowhere near Northeast Prep. Take a ride up to Hamilton college.

I went to UVa, and yes they really do live in a bubble. Some of them are nice guys, others are total douchebags, but most of them are completely clueless about life outside of their crowd. They are generally privileged and entitled--these are the guys who were born on third and think they hit a triple.

That said, I don't mind seersucker (and it totally makes sense in the South in the summer), but for god's sake, don't wear seersucker pants with leather shoes. If you're going to wear it, get some bucks, or you just look stupid.

I dated a guy like this. Old plantation family, belonged to a country club, went to prep school and then joined a fraternity at an SEC university, wore bow ties and boat shoes, drank bourbon, owned guns and went hunting and sailing. It was a really good relationship for a while but eventually I just found that he was too close-minded for us to last. Southern preps are very conservative.

OP here. They are just very "bro-y" and insular, it's hard to explain. They say extremely un-PC stuff and think it's genuinely funny. But they're not BAD guys, just bizarre and clueless.

I guess I want to know what their lives are like a little bit more, so that I get some context to understand their behavior? Like do they just come from a world where they don't socialize with minorities or anyone who doesn't own a yacht/belong to a country club, and they aren't used to women who think career is more important than getting married?

I'm not trying to be accusatory at all btw, I'm genuinely curious to know what their upbringings are like - at home, at church, at school, among their friends, etc.

I am from a Northeast prep culture which is very different. The clothes may be a bit similar---but the attitudes are opposite. The women are more Jackie Kennedy preppy--not tons of make-up, etc. but maybe same Lily dress.

NP here. I'm curious how the attitudes of a Southeast prep is different from a Northeast prep? And how are the women different in both cultures?

I can't help you OP, as I have zero exposure to these people. I work in DC and my colleagues are nice, normal and middle-class lol.

2 very different things. The Northeast elite prep culture is much different from the Southern Alabama Sorority.Fraternity culture. Get your facts straight.

Watch "Southern Charm' on Bravo....ohmigosh....crash course. I caught an episode of this show on the treadmill at my gym last week.

Based on some wealthy post-college kids in Charleston, SC. My best friend moved to Charleston post-college and these are the type of people I met. Some are very similar to the Richmond crowd I see when I visit my nephews.

I LOVE Cameron on SC. She is absolutely adorable. The drinking on this show is SPOT-ON. Southern frat/aristocrat culture. The southern eccentricities fascinate me.

Oh Lord, OP. They are no threat to you. They are obviously compensating for something. Think small penis or worse, something they are trying hard to hide, but failing miserably - they announce their shortcomings with their rotten attitude. Often, the women will have weasel face (you will know it when you see it). They do not smile often. When I see them, I wonder if they are stuck in high school, or just were never in with the popular kids, so they feel the need to try to make others feel alienated, in adulthood. Think of their shallow history - slaveowners, really? Who in their right mind would aspire to be them? Wouldn't you rather have your rich heritage, instead? They don't have much but bitterness.
