I love absolutely everything about my daughter, she is amazing. I don't like the work the orthodontist did making a flat front with a wide arch. The PP put it perfectly, it looks weird. I wrote on this board looking for support on how to handle the situation.

If she is canine to canine flat across, that is a weird bite. I would ask about correcting. Why would they do that.

OP, they will adjust a bit now that she has the braces off. Also, i"m betting it isn't as bad as you think it is. Oh and more importantly, get over it before you create an issue for your daughter.

Did she have a palate expander prior to her treatment with braces?

8 in a flat line across? That doesn't make sense, that would mean only three left on each side to go back and it would include molars.

18:45 is right.

Braces can fix many things not all things. You still have the teeth you were born with.

Got mine off in my mid 40s.
I can tell you that I had a few too-small teeth - ortho and I thought they would look better bigger, so we made some space and filled the gap with composite. I swear, you can't tell at all. I'll probably have to get it redone every decade or so, but it really was a good solution.

Interesting, today I took my son to the ortho and she said he can get his braces off in one month. His teeth don't look perfect.

One of his front teeth looks bigger than the other. It never used to. WTF?

Braces don't change the shape of her teeth. If she has boxy teeth naturally, she's going to have more of a squared off look. They aren't going to slap braces back on and ruin the correct alignment of her her teeth because mom thinks it should be more rounded. You'll learn to deal.

Are you sure its just because you aren't used to not seeing braces and she's not used to using/moving/smiling without them?

Maybe over time things will look more natural.

I think some people with bondings look really fake (like horse or Chicklet gum teeth)---but these are her own teeth....

Help -- DD just got her braces off. I expected her smile to be beautiful, but I don't like it. It looks like her teeth are boxed - flat across the front with the canines just as far forward. The didn't pull any teeth and she has a tiny mouth so it looks terrible. Also, it still looks like she has braces on when her mouth is closed. Orthodonist was very highly recommended by several people. I tried talking to him and I guess technically the teeth and arc are as they should be but aesthetically they don't fit her face. I don't want DD to feel bad and know I hate how they look, but I can't help being upset.
