Except for the ones who went to St. Louis University.

If you are in Wisconsin you might want to check out Lawrence University in Appleton. It is a good LAC with a conservatory. The school is in a nice small city(Appleton) and has a new president from Princeton University.

Most Catholic colleges are regional -- that's kind of the idea. G'town and BC are among the few that are not (Notre Dame also in that league, obviously). Loyola New Orleans is a popular school with DC Catholic school kids and gives good merit aid. Villanova also is a strong school and has a beautiful campus.

I agree.

I went junior year abroad with a Marquette program, so with lots of Marquette students. As a group they were super-nice, personable, respectful, polite, talented, smart and academically-oriented.

Seems like a great school to me.

Milwaukee is fine. It has some beautiful areas by the lake. It is just not as nice as Chicago, Madison, and Minneapolis.

DePaul in Chicago is also Catholic. Marquette seems fine but you shouldn't overlook what that means -- small Catholic in a small not particularly vibrant city. I agree that Milwaukee is not as bad as it is often portrayed and the area around Marquette is fine but it is not exactly a magnet either. Much of the downtown is pretty depressing. Good mid-level school but not much better than that. The recent success in basketball, bringing back memories of Pistol Pete, might have improved the quality of the student body as those sorts of things can be a big draw.

Have you looked at Loyola Chicago? It is definitely worth a look major renovation the past few years will be completed sometime next year. Stunning campus on the lake and on the L.

What are the students like? DS is concerned it is mostly a school for Wisconsin and Chicago kids. And that the campus would be dead on the weekends..

It is a good school and Milwaukee is actually pretty nice. It is not as selective as the other two choices, but it has a nice reputation.

Cold, though.

Does anyone have information on this school? We are visiting a friend in Chicago over spring break and I am thinking it may be worthwhile to swing up to Milwaukee and have a look, since the two top choices on DS's list (Georgetown and Boston College) seem similar to it...except harder to get into and pricier. Thanks
