No but DH and I don't either. We read books off a screen, too.

Yes. She practices her clarinet, still does art projects, bakes, etc.

My 13 yo, has about 2 hours of homework every night, about 4 on the weekends. He plays sports. He plays an instrument for school... not much practicing happening at home.

He plays basketball, hangs out with friends, watches TV, .... I don't really expect much else.

Mine (I'm the OP) plays 2 travel sports, so finding ways to keep him entertained outside of the house isn't really a problem. It's that he can't seem to find ways to keep himself entertained inside the house that makes me wonder.

Like a PP, he does spend time annoying his younger brother. SO annoying. Younger brother seems capable of entertaining himself without screens all the time, so I was curious if it's partially age, or just older DS' personality. Or both.

Reads only when book is stapled to him. And eyes are propped open.

Sigh.

Thanks. Guess he's not abnormal.

Not really, but it doesn't bother me because he spends 15+ hours a week on his sport. I think the key is to get them involved in things outside the house.

Mine is only 11 but I still have the same problem. Sometimes, I'll hide the devices just to make him do something else. Of course, then the tv goes on...:/

No. Like pp, only if I declare a screen free day.

Basically no. Unless I declare the day a screen time sabbatical, which I do every so often just for that reason.

Just curious.

Mine can't seem to. Unless outside shooting baskets. BUt no reading, playing games, etc. Drives me nuts, and worries me a bit.

What are your experiences?
