Hmm... I have a black and white pattern wrap dress I still wear seven years later... That's all though.

I find sheath shape to be the most versatile and timeless.

Are we talking about the dress itself lasting, or the appearance of the dress being timeless?

Huh. I have a vintage linen sheath dress from the 1960s, so that's 50 years, and it looks like new.

I think a timeless dress is a simple, well-constructed one. A classic sheath dress doesn't look dated in a photo, for example.

I guess it isn't meant to last that long. But to not appear dated in photos?

The basic cocktail Little Black Dress is about as timeless as it gets. The only thing that may change is the length (shorter hemlines are more acceptable in some periods than others), but I think a just-above-the-knee cut would work just about anytime.

Wraps and sheaths are pretty timeless.

Timeless dresses = simple dresses. Dresses that are "made" with accessories, and not the dress itself.

Do these even exist. What is timeless now, may be "so 2014" in 35 years. How do people form a general consensus on "timeless"
