Although it sounds counter-intuitive, when you get dehydrated your body starts hanging onto more water than usual. Drink lots of fluids and don't worry about it too much. It will go away quickly once you get better.

WTH? I've had the stomach flu for a couple of days now and, accordingly, have consumed very few calories (because I'm pre-diabetic, I do not drink any sugared drinks like 7-Up or Gatorade when sick). Yet I've gained 5 pounds since last week. I'm not overweight (even with the extra 5 lbs), but I hate to think I'm gaining weight.

What is going on here?
