You do have to pay if it's taken above and beyond the 7 courses. We were advised against it as we have a child that does several hours a day of fairly intensive physical training because they are much more strict about meeting all the goals - not just the heart rate - which would have been fine but all the other stuff they require - busy work basically. Looking back we should have gone ahead and pursued it but consider how much your kid is willing to exercise and if they can get it in with their schedule.

If they take 2 online classes and schedule it properly they can arrive at school late or leave early every day.

It's actually pretty cool. You track your exercise and participate in online classes about health and fitness topics. SO muh better than hellish real PE.

I think it is silly that kids have to take PE, art, and music in high school at all. By high school they know if they want to take those courses. They had enough of it in middle school.

Nope. I teach 8th grade, and the high school counselors just gave their presentation to my kiddos last week. 2 years of PE.

No that has not been implemented to my knowledge - just 2 years and it has been a compete and utter WASTE OF TIME!! Even the "socializing" hasn't been worth it.

It used to be just two years, and then they were free to take an elective in its place for 11th and 12th grades. But I seem to remember hearing the kids now are required to take PE all four years? If so, that is so ridiculous. They will be missing out on some great electives to actually broaden their minds, all for an hour of stupid PE? I hope I've misunderstood and that this is not the case.
