find a friend/ contact IB for desired school and work up a simple sub lease document at a nominal fee. you have plausible backup for address at time of lottery and then when you get permanent address you can provide the update before May1

I just called. You have to use your current address. Anyone who moves in that two-month window basically ends up in no-mans land, with no IB school. Your current IB school is no longer valid when you go to verify your new address by May 1 (understandably), but you don't get a new IB school. I wish you could update your address, at least in the period of time between the deadline (Mar 3) and the results date (Mar 31). I hate when people cheat the system, but it doesn't really seem fair to not allow a family that moves during the 2-month window to update their status. Of course, if I could afford to buy my way into a short-term lease in the desired school district, I'd have no problems. Sigh.

Please let us know! Particularly since many people sell houses in the spring, this must be a common phenomenon.

I would not lie - especially since the following certification is required to submit the application:

"I certify that the information I have provided is accurate to the best of my knowledge. I understand that providing false information on this application may disqualify and void my application. I further acknowledge that once I am admitted to a school, I must comply with all additional enrollment requirements at that school to accept my offer of admission, such as submitting residency documents, attending orientation sessions, meeting language proficiency requirements, and/or meeting previous experience requirements."

I would lie, but only if you're SURE you will be IB by May 1. Otherwise you will be screwed.

I would not lie on the application. I think you are just not going to get in-boundary & proximity status for where you are moving to. You can still apply out of boundary and to charters.

What would you do if you were moving in this timeframe? Put down a random address in the school zone to which you're moving in order to be considered for IB status (which you'd be able to prove by May 1)? The actual address of residency as of May 1 would probably be different than the address on the application. I'm unfortunately going to be in this situation, and can't afford to rent an extra apartment for a few months.
