Being that age, I'm concerned about drugs and alcohol and what not so I checked his phone. He has a contact in there named "Jamaican Jerry" who I noticed that he called a few days ago as well. We've gone through the whole yearbook of his school and there is no kid named Jerry or anything similar. I don't want to ask him who Jamaican Jerry is because I would be admitting that I searched through his phone, but what do you make of this?
Any help appreciated
Guess you shouldn't have done it then, huh?
Unless you've done an exceptionally terrible job of raising your child, he can smoke a few joints and still be a good person. Calm down.
let's avoid hippie/liberal biases here, not everyone is big on getting stoned.
This is not a hippie/liberal bias. Aside from the fact that lots of conservative folks smoke weed too... OP's political leanings, whatever they may be, don't actually have anything to do with the choices that her son makes. It's her job to do the best job she can of raising her son, and I don't think secretly going through his phone falls under that category. If he is in danger, seems like he needs guidance, or asks for help, by all means OP, step in. But at this point, he's just a teenager experimenting the way most teenagers do.
