The new Prep president has been chosen -- it's generally known. He was at Georgetown (interim Chaplain, I think) before going to University of Scranton as president for about a decade and then to Marquette for two years. While Marquette appears not to have worked out, the tenure at U. of Scranton was positive and people I know who were undergrads at Georgetown when he was there were very enthusiastic about him. Said he really connected with students and is someone they think the faculty/staff will be excited to work with.

There's something to be said for coming into a place that's had a bit of turmoil or bad luck -- gives you the opportunity to right the ship and get credit for that. I hear he's a nice guy and hope people give him a fair chance.

Giblin is annoying, but Prep is still a lax power (though he no longer has a 100% captive pipeline from Mater Dei). Lots of kids do not like screamers, but plenty do as well. Prep would never kick him out of the door (unless it's a money issue).

Why not hire a young Prep alum to take over the program. Giblin's military style of screaming at his players does not work in this day and age.

STJ is willing to throw money at Giblin. Giblin is miffed because the school has rejected some kids he recruited.

Probably just a ploy for more money.

yeah, keep the lacrosse people happy. don't tighten academic standards so we can let good football players in. keep it up and Prep will become Good Counsel.

As long as he obeys the orders of the Dads (and Coach Giblin), he'll do fine.

what they need is a new board, or at least new board leadership. the current one is horrid.
