I used to have major yeast problems and went on diflucan several times along with candida diets and natural herbs. And then i would feel better and it would come back again. If I never ate carbs or sugar then I was pretty much ok, but that is not realistic for me. I am very healthy, but sometimes I want some carbs or a treat. I later learned I have celiac disease and when I went gluten free I have never had a yeast problem again. At least so far! So I think for me gluten was definitely a factor… at the very least it probably weakened my immune system and made yeast more likely to grow. Something to consider. Of course that doesn't mean you can eat tons of gluten free sugar and carbs, but I now eat them regularly ( in moderation) and I'm doing much better.

Have you tried Gentian violet?
Really helps stubborn cases.

Also, if baby has thrush, he/she could be re-infecting you each time you nurse. Baby needs to be treated too.

Does anyone know of a local doctor--mainstream or naturopath--with expertise in this area? Have been struggling with resistant nipple/breast thrush for weeks now and I'm nearly at the and of my rope. Ideally, I'd like someone who can test for the particular strain of yeast I'm dealing with and provide info on which anti-fungals are most effective for that strain (since run of the mill treatments like Clotrimazole, Diflucan, etc haven't helped).

Am in NoVA but willing to drive to Maryland or the District, if necessary.
