When my kids were young enough we had great bath times in our big tub together. Lots of bubbles, lots of fun. You will enjoy that when they are old enough.

1. My kid started taking showers with me as soon as he could stand. He liked them about equally to baths, and it saves me a lot of time.

2. You're overestimating the difficulty of a deep tub, or how hard it would be to put a plastic tub or inflatable pool or something else in the shower.

3. Most importantly, you're overestimating how long of a period of your life your kid will be unable to more-or-less bath himself or herself. I'm not saying you won't need to supervise and assist, but you don't need to be bent over the tub the whole time.

Basically, you're talking about a major renovation to add a feature that might be useful for only a couple months. This strikes me as about as necessary as getting a built-in Bumbo in your nursery.

Just get a small inflatable tub and put it in the shower.

Not worth it. We have both a shower and a Jacuzzi tub (and a regular tub). My 2 boys have always either showered or taken a bath in the Jacuzzi tub. We wound up taking out the control panel on the tub so as not to worry about someone playing with the buttons.

Yes, this would be extremely expensive. I think you're worrying about nothing.

My parents also only have the jacuzzi tub/standing shower option. We stayed with them for a month recently while we were visiting from out of the country and I just put on a bathing suit and got in the tub with DS. He was 13 months.

We just put a piece of tape over the jets as DS kept trying to either stick his hand inside or a toy.

Kids can start taking showers a lot sooner than you think ESP if you get in with them. I was showering at the beach with my 18mo. Also a deep tub is not that big of a deal if you are willing to stick your feet in.

If this is the only reason you want to redo, I don't think it is worth it. It's a temporary problem.

I tried this question in the parenting forum but no one answered. Our new house has a standing shower in the spare bathroom upstairs. The master has a deep jacuzzi type tub. We have an 11-month-old who probably won't be taking showers anytime soon. I feel like it would be tough to bathe a toddler in a deep tub. We have a toddler tub, but it's a pain to use in a standing shower. So should we add a tub to that bathroom or is the jacuzzi tub easier to bathe a toddler in than it seems? Would this be a $$$ project?
