I know you're trying to be helpful but this is not a food allergy issue.
Why not? I have suggested this to a few other moms of kids like this and it turned out to be correct. They can cause behavior problems.
Because it isn't - this is a personality issue. (A food allergy may cause grouchiness but it isn't going to cause a child to go from 0 to 100 at the drop of a hat.)

At 10, they really start to mature. My DS is 12 now and I have to say that the last two years seem SO easy compared to age 6. It's not perfect, but 90% of the time, he is a complete joy to be around. 8% big pain in the ass, and 2% intolerable. That's not bad.

When DH was a child, he said he had control issues. They were exasperated by food preservatives ... especially sodium nitrites which are found in hot dogs - something he ate often in school. It said after eating a hotdog, it feels like ants are crawling under his skin. When something little happens, he would just blow up!

Anonymous wrote:Yes, my 5yo is like this. It's exhausting. He just can't seem to learn even a millisecond of patience, or to absorb that screaming won't get him his way. When he's happy it's the best day of ever; whenever something happens he doesn't like, he sobs and it's the worst day ever, worst mother ever etc. I just put him in his room for quiet time after 20 mins of screaming at his sibling for not drawing him the picture he wanted, me for trying to distract him and not knowing the toy he wanted, etc. I'm at the end of my rope.
