Our 26 month old DS started last September and we've been really pleased. His teachers are warm, responsible and engaging. He loves them and talks about them, and his classmates, on the weekends. We did a nanny share with DS from 7 months to 20 months, hoping to skip that with #2 and get an infant spot at CDC. We'd definitely recommend it.

My son attends and we love it. It is a busy place, but I've never found it to be a cruel place. We come and go at all hours (we have flexible work arrangements) and I've never seen anything out of the ordinary.

My son is 19 months and loves it. I think your experience is highly dependent on how well your child bonds with his or her teachers, but I've never seen a teacher yell at a child or raise a hand to a child.

Also I completely disagree with the comment of "It's a daycare and I didn't expect much." I expect a lot from my daycare, and am happy to see that my son is coming home trying to sing his ABCs, and telling me that he has two trucks.

Hello - We live very close to this daycare (the Baptist Church) in Clarendon (we're on N. Highland Street). If anyone on this forum is looking for a great daycare situation for a toddler and lives in the area, would you like to consider a nanny share? Our son (2 yrs old) has a fantastic nanny and the family we have been sharing with just moved out of state. We'd love to share our nanny with another toddler in the area. Please email if interested. We visited this morning, unannounced, and the children all seemed very happy to be there and to be arriving there. The building seems a little old, but clean. I wish they weren't moving in a few months to temporary quarters but it isn't the main consideration.

Wow, I just have to say - I'm the PP who said she loves the CDC and has posted about it before. I have been there on many occasions and observed lots of stuff - nothing ever made me worry for a second. If anything, we feel very blessed that we got a spot because we have always felt like our teachers truly love our child and like it's almost a "higher calling" they feel they have to be there and taking care of the kids.

I understand people have different experiences - but to anyone considering the center, I just think you should try and spend time there and decide for yourselves. And don't be shy about talking to other parents at drop off and pick up time. Sometimes it's hectic, but I often stay for 10 - 15 minutes to chat with the teachers and other parents and would be happy to talk to you!

PP, can you tell us how old your child is? I've been told the teachers for the infants, young toddlers are good but not so good as the kids get older.

Well, I went on the tour yesterday. (I posted previously about an opening for my 18 mo old son). The place seemed fine, but it didn't seem BETTER than where my son is now, so I'm not going to move him. That's all the experience I have of the place, though. The program sounded good, the menu looked nutritious.

We LOVE it - am not worried about the move whatsoever. I've posted a couple of times here about the center so you might try doing a search! But we highly recommend it.

Yes, that's the one! First Baptist Chuch of Clarendon Child Development Center.

PP, can you say more about what you find excellent? How old is your child/children? Have you experienced the toddler rooms or wherever they would put the 1-year-old walkers.

I am sad they will be moving to a temporary location for a few years but if they are loving and engage the children, it is worth it.
