As always, it about Gaithersburg and the freeze-line. If temps stay low then they will not be able to clear streets for buses to run on Friday.

I have a relative in Southwest Va...about 3 hours south from here...already started snowing...predicting 1-2 inches an hour...UNTIL TOMORROW AFTERNOON...
It's not going to slow down that much before it gets here

I agree completely with PP. I predict Admin offices will be closed tomorrow.

If this storm is a total bust, then MCPS open on Friday. But if the storm is even close to what they are predicting, definitely closed Friday.

The snow on January 22 during the day forced them to be closed on Jan. 23 as well, and that total wasn't as much as this one's potential.

Wow, really? I'm surprised we know already. I'm a Fed so still not sure what's happening with my workplace although we're encouraged to telework.

This decision is not surprising. I fully expect the Fed to close. my employer pretty much never closes (not even during the freak storms of Feb. 2010) but I always bring my laptop home to work... assuming I have power. I also fully expect the Admin offices to close, which means no in-school child care for the people who use it (I'm one of those people.)

Once I had kids, I learned I had to look at the likely scenarios with regards to weather situations and do what is best for my situation. I'm fortunate that my job allows me to work at home. Not all jobs (retail, doctors, etc.) have that option.

My heart goes out to parents who have to work (not me, two teens who just lounge about). But what can you do?

You are correct! Hopefully fed will close too.
