You're in Rockville, right?

They have a league for T-ball. Signup ends this month.

Tball is all learning. It's usually one year and then to A ball. You don't need lessons, the practices are basically 100% lessons....

It's good, but not strictly necessary, if they can catch....

We don't live in DC but where we live Tball only starts at age 6 (then they have T7, and 8). The league not only does games plus a practice during the week but also offers winter clinics (separate sign up and pricing but offered through league rather than ymca or local DC center).

For TBall, the league is meant to be developmental. They typically have one practice during the week and then a game on Saturday to practice/learn how to be in a real game. Most first graders will be in Rookie Ball, but even first timers should be okay with that. Just get them out with a ball and glove and have them practice throwing and catching in the yard. You can get soft yellow colored balls at sports authority that are good kids to play catch with. You'll also want to make sure that that have the right sized glove.

OP here. Growing up in another country, league to me is more like kids playing match/game. With no experience at all, I'm hoping for something more like a teach/learn style thing for her. Do I have misunderstanding towards league?

tball is generally 4-6. Definitely search for a little league and see their offerings.

No, age 6 isn't aged out of t-ball if the child hasn't played ball before.

you might check fast-pitch softball too. in arlington, girls that age play in the pixie league. they could also play little league baseball if they want (coach-pitch) but I think 6 is aged out of T-ball.

Google a little league for your area (rockville little league will probably lead you to the right league). T-Ball is great through the LL system.
