One of my students a few years ago required this for several months. I worked closely with his home care teacher and he basically did the same work he would have done if he had been in my classroom, though modified for a singleton. The work was scaled back since he obviously needed rest and could not handle a full school day, but when he was able to come back to school, he was not significantly behind. This was in early elementary school, however, so as PP suggests, middle school/high school may be different.

My friends child did this is K. He had a very positive experience and had way more 1 on 1 than he would have had otherwise.

We know someone who did this. While this kid appreciated the effort to meet his/her (don't want to out anyone) medical need, s/he felt that they were expected to meet all the same requirements as the kids in the regular classes (actually, this was one of the application programs) but with much less frequent instruction. When the kid returned to the classroom, s/he felt it was basically, "OK, now you have two weeks before the semester ends, to turn in everything you missed, without knowing what you missed."

Looking for anyone with experience with the Hospital and Homebound program that MCPS provides. Thank you!
