OMG. YOU should host! Funny!

I was an avid Leno fan until he screwed Conan over. You can argue it, but that's what happened. If I was Conan, I would not have been so graceful (nor would I have cared to be).

I can't watch Jay on principle.

As far as talent, Boston people are just funny. They are good natured, good spirited people. They are not nearly as hostile as people think they are, nor are they nearly as hostile as those with pent up anger in this area. They are not mean spirited, there is much to be fateful for when you are from boston, and they know it. There is a lot of true talent in Boston. Say what you want (you're from here, so your opinion carries no weight with me), but there is something in Boston that brings out the best in the natives - the true talent, bands, comedy, etc. You don't have to like it. We don't care. Seriously. But I digress, all you have to say is (anything from the Northeast) to set people here into a frenzy. Get the popcorn.

I think it's because he is not really mean, and it's easy to be funny when you are being mean, but hard to be funny and not be mean--you have to be clever.

I also like how he kept his own personal politics in check. He really did have healthy boundaries between his work and personal life, which I admired given the rest of Hollywood's endless emoting.

Dh said he'd tape it but he forgot to, so I saw the monologue and the ending speech on youtube.

At the end he did reveal some of his personal life, which made it pretty special. He said he started working the show, then his mom died, then his dad died, and then his brother died, so he had no one. The show staff became his family. He didn't leave to go to the other networks because "he didn't know anyone there." It was really moving and I'm all teared up just writing this. He just seems like such a good guy.

I agree with this. That's why I got turned off of Jimmy Fallon. He is mean underneath his "I'm an innocent lad" act. I can't stand David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel for the same reason. So sick of mean people.

I thought Jay Leno did a good job of being a host -- he was easy with his guests and had good rapport and made the show about them, not him. I thought his signing off speech was moving. I'll miss watching him and hope he makes yet another comeback.

Kimmel is smarmy. I watch Letterman and Ferguson. Old school > soft man-babies

All I know is that I could watch The Late Shift over and over.

I'm not a Leno fan at all. I don't find him funny. If the rumors are true about the joke-stealing and all the shady stuff he's pulled, then he's even worse than I thought.

That said, I did hear the segment in which he discussed the staff on the show and at the network becoming his family, and it was very touching.

I, for one, will miss his high voice and endearing lantern jaw.
