We usually get the LL Bean parkas and have basically been happy, though I think the torsos are kind of short for even the average kid -- also think they seem awfully puffy, more so than the average parka. We travel north a lot to visit family and so we need coats that can deal with even snowier, colder winters than we normally get in D.C.

We like the Land's Ends parkas better---especially because they are not puffy.
We have Land's End parkas that went through my sisters three boys (now in college), through my firstborn and now my Kindergarten is now wearing. They still look like new!!
I think the newer models--bought a new one for my 8-year old this winter aren't as good as the ones from 18 years ago. The sleeves turn inside out everytime he takes his coat off--friend has the same problem. They also have that hand thing---semi-glove.
