Not to mention constant expensive repairs. My Mercedes is ALWAYS in the shop and we spend thousands of dollars on every repair. Seriously, the cost of owning one is very high. DH is encouraging me to trade in my 6 yo ML for a new Lexus bc he's tired of spending so much on it. We usually keep our cars 10+ years but fear that repairs and maintenance will cost almost as much as a new car.

We have 3 Mercedes of various vintage. They never break down. Congrats and enjoy your car.

Make sure you have a Mercedes extended warranty.

Some Mercedes dealers don't honor non-Mercedes warranties.

I have not been super impressed with Mercedes over the last five years so I would probably be looking at a different luxury brand, if it were me.

We actually just bought a new (to us) car and were wavering between the Volvo S80, Audi A6, and Mercedes E-350. My husband was meticulous in his "value" spreadsheets, etc. and I'll tell you that a 2 year old Mercedes will hold its value... for like 2 more years. Most used cars (luxury or not) drop significantly and doing just a basic car search with different years selected will show you that. Suggest going out to a place like CarMax and driving and few different styles of luxury cars- wouldn't recommend buying there, but at least there will be enough things on the lot that you can probably cross some things off you list. Just so you know, 2010 was when the body style changed and they are still quite pricey but without some of the bells and whistles of the 2009s and previous. Definitely do your research but there are deals to be had. (And FWIW, I am obsessed with my new A6- it's sporty but big enough for the kiddos) Good luck and CONGRATS on your new promotion!!!

I'd purchase a lexus over Mercedes if you want to treat yourself. Far more reliable and easier to service.

I want to treat myself after a big promotion after years of driving junkers, but will not buy a new car. Practically, I should buy a 2013 Kia Optima. I know that. But I want a treat, and I think a 2 year old Mercedes will hold its value for a long time.
