Forgot to mention: Batteries

The rice that I buy (Blue Ribbon) is grown/packaged in the USA - I believe in Texas. Isn't it hulled and cleaned during processing? There is certainly no dirt in the bag.

I suppose there is no harm in rinsing it 1, 2 3 or more times. But is that really necessary?

Our staples are:
Frozen salmon burgers
Frozen peeled/de-veined shrimp
Frozen mixed vegetables
Frozen broccoli
Laundry soap
Olive oil
Organic Quinoa and Brown Rice (6 pack pouches - Seeds of Change brand)
Frozen tortellini or Frozen ravioli
Salad
Organic Hummus (comes in a 16 pack - 2oz individual size)

Wash your rice - three times, then cook.

Costco has the best return policy, but food items will be discarded.

Rice casseroles are good idea. I also cook rice with some meat/chicken and veggies for our dogs. They love that.

Don't return it. Eat it slowly over the year.
Put in in rice casseroles where you can't taste it as much.
Don't be so finicky. Is it even worth the few minutes to return it?

We buy fruit; all the fruit we've ever bought there (grapes, pineapples, whatever) has been so delicious. We have to share it with family in the area so it gets eaten while fresh, but it's truly great.

I have not been impressed with the basmati rice I bought at Costco (I am Indian). Thanks for the report on jasmine rice.
I will stick to buying jasmine rice at the Asian store (should say product of Thailand) and basmati rice at the Indian store.
I buy produce, sundried tomatoes, household supplies, fruit, some meats, birdseed, coffee beans and salad dressing there.

I regularly buy the 10 pound bags of Blue Ribbon rice and it's fine.

I also buy: Steaks, pork loins, pork chops, roasts, chicken legs and thighs. I buy frozen bags of individually wrapped chicken breasts, salmon, mahi mahi. (I pop this all into the freezer at home).

Paper products, beer, spaghetti sauce, noodles, tin foil, olive oil, non-stick, spices, soups, cans of green beans/corn, snacks for lunches, cheese, bacon, laundry and dish washing soap/detergent, dryer sheets, toothpaste, seasonal allergy med (clariton), mouthwash, toothbrushes, Frontline and chew bones for the dogs, beef jerky...

I do not like the Kirkland brand of dish detergent. And I stay away from bakery items and most fresh veggies/fruits because they tend to go stale/bad before we can use them up.

Where was the rice grown? China?

I am guessing the problem is more about the country of origin than it is about Cosco.

Take it back. They will refund your money.

Stew beef, steaks, frozen wild salmon, CHEESE, organic spring mix salad, fresh broccoli, pecans, almonds, coconut oil, olive oil, wild planet canned tuna, laundry detergent, bottled water.

I bought a huge (25lb) bag of jasmine rice at Costco, thinking it'd last me a long time. Well, it's awful! Jasmine rice usually has a wonderful fragrance. This one just smells stale (both before and after cooking.) It's so bad, I was going to throw it out. But I suppose I could try to return it. I hate the waste, (both of the rice and the money) But I just can't imagine happily eating through that whole bag.

what do you like to buy, food-wise at Costco? I have bought good salmon there. And I bought a huge bag of wild blueberries that we enjoyed. And the rest of the family enjoys the croissants. We also buy nutella there.
