How can anyone have a "good read" here? The weathermen barely can predict the weather. Why do you think Jane Q. Dumdum on DCUM would know? These posts are ridiculous.
A friend of mine works at NOAA and said a couple of hours ago that it's going to be really tricky. MCPS *should* wait until 5:00 AM to announce the decision to make sure they have the most data available.
Sunday morning, predictions were for lots of snow on Monday. But then predictions started "downgrading" to the point of basically saying "we don't know." Sunday night at 11:00, I went to bed and it was 47 degrees... not all that snowlike.
Montgomery College had actually cancelled classes until noon on Monday. What an embarrassment.
As sick as I am of discussing this, I'm going to say I think a two-hour delay is a good bet. MCPS has a history of delaying when the morning commute looks "dangerous," citing the safety of its students who walk or drive themselves to school. And there is no penalty for a delayed opening as far as snow day makeups are concerned.
Has anyone got a good read on the potential weather tonight/tomorrow morning. It looks like it could be either a nothing event or we could be delayed b/c of ice. Thoughts for tomorrow?
