I'm pretty sure if you're up for making them yourself, you can order the mix for beignets from Café du Monde.

DH is from just outside of NOLA and loves some beignets. We might have to head to BB one weekend to try a couple things on the menu. Everything sounds delicious!

Not the OP, but thanks for the rec for Bayou Bakery, I'm going to head over there this weekend. I've been craving a good gumbo. Would you all say that the rest of the food there is good too?

agree with PP that beignets don't travel well. even if you drive them right over, they're still going to get cold before she has a chance to eat them, and then they'll just be cold fried dough.

if you just want to get her something to remind her of home, order her a king cake and have it sent.

Thanks! Think if I drive them right over they'd be OK?

The chef at BB is a New Orleans native. But I don't think beignets travel well.

I was introduced to Bayou Bakery by a New Orleans transplant.

Another vote for bayou bakery. Great food in general & the staff is very sweet! I live around the corner too so it's very convenient.

Third vote for Bayou Bakery. Nice atmosphere, too, if you feel like hanging out.

I wonder if Acadiana sells theirs to-go. Because they are fantastic! Bayou Bakery is good too.

A good friend of mine - originally from LA - just had a baby and I wanted to surprise her with beignets. Are there any decent ones locally? Has anyone tried Bayou Bakery in VA - worth the drive from DC?
