You can make the food and freeze in small batches. That is what I do. I make a couple of weeks worth at a time.

One of my friends makes food for her 3 dogs. She does chicken, chicken liver, brown rice, carrots, and wheat germ cooked in ghee.

i've only ever made chicken&rice for my dog when he was sick. as much as i'd love to have the time/energy to make his food all the time, i just don't.

Thanks pp, no issues with refusing the food lol she loves when I make it. I'm thinking of mixing it half and half so she still has something crunchy. She is on a limited ingredient food, so it may be easier for us to just make it

I make food for one of my dogs who has many allergies. There are several books and online resources for recipes. Dr. Michael Fox, a vet who used to write for the Post, has a good recipe on his website. There is also a recipe for 'Spot's stew' online, which is pretty good.
Make the transition gradually, so your pooch does not refuse the new food and to make sure there are no digestive issues.

So we ran out if food this weekend for my dog, so I just boiled some brown rice, carrots, green beans and frozen salmon together and fed her this. Her dog food is expensive, $55 a month. I was considering making a months worth of food and seeing if it was cheaper. I did a little research and read that you should add ground egg shells for calcium, purée the veggies for easier digestion, and give a raw beef bone once in a while.
Just wondering if anyoneakes their own food, and if you have any advice. Thanks!
