I think that these awards means something deeper and it usually means they are trying to prop up somebody.
In this case all it proves is that Renay Johnson (correct spelling) kisses up to that union. It means didlly squat about what she is doing for kids.

Anonymous wrote:SIGH. Do successful male principals get bashed for "self-promotion" when they win awards? I don't think so. And if you don't have any specific complaint about the Blair principal's administrative skills, why do you care if she's an effective communicator using modern media tools?
Anonymous wrote:13:03 here - I was congratulating Johnson (again, no affiliation, but was curious if you had any grounds for bashing her) on the award. I don't really care if it's a union award or not (I am fairly neutral about teacher's unions & figure that if they picked someone from the entire county to win an award, it's probably a measure of merit - unlike your derisive, she's-a-self-promoter comment which has no basis other than some apparent luddite fear of modern technology). I hope she is also on instagram since all of her students are on both those platforms. While I don't think that social media prowess is proxy for bring a great administrator, I do think that parent and student engagement matter and a quick glance at her twitter feed shows she engages in positive ways with both. So, again, congrats to Principal Johnson!

I believe you misspelled her name judging from her twitter account. Also, if you remove the period from the link above, it works.
